Hi Rob. On many Hotpoint/Indesit-built washers, a “03” fault often points towards a draining/pressure-sensing issue rather than simply “no power to the pump”, so if the pump runs once and then stops, I’d check the drain system and level sensing next.
Before doing anything inside, isolate the washing machine from the mains. If you’re not confident with live testing, wiring, or control-board work, it’s best left to a qualified appliance engineer.
1. Check the pump itself properly Power reaching the pump only proves the board is trying to drain. Make sure the impeller isn’t loose on the shaft, stiff, or intermittently jamming. Coins, elastic, hair grips and debris can let it work briefly then fail under load.
2. Check the filter, sump hose and drain hose Remove and inspect the pump filter, the large sump hose from tub to pump, and the outlet hose to the standpipe/u-bend. Partial blockages are very common and can cause one short pump-out before the machine decides it hasn’t drained correctly.
3. Check for pressure switch / pressure chamber blockage If the machine still “thinks” it’s full of water, it may throw the fault even after pumping. Check the pressure chamber and the thin pressure hose for soap sludge or gunge. A blocked pressure system is a common cause.
4. Inspect wiring and connections Check the pump wiring loom, pressure switch connections and plugs to the module for corrosion, loose pins or damaged wires, especially low down near the pump.
5. If all that is clear Then the likely suspects become the pressure switch itself, the pump failing intermittently under load, or the control module.
If you reply with whether it actually drains the water fully or leaves water behind, that will narrow it down a lot.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
