Common oven problems
Why is my oven not heating up?
No heat in an electric oven is usually a failed heating element (often visibly blistered or split), a faulty thermostat, or a tripped or blown supply. If the fan runs but there is no heat, the element is the prime suspect. Tell us the model and whether the grill still works.
Why is my oven not getting hot enough?
An oven that is weak or cooks unevenly often has a failing element, a worn thermostat reading the wrong temperature, or a fan not circulating heat properly. A cheap oven thermometer will confirm how far off it is. Let us know what you find.
Why has my induction hob stopped working?
Induction hobs flash error codes for the wrong pan (not magnetic), overheating, a power-supply fault, or a cracked surface. Check a magnet sticks firmly to your pan base first. Post the exact error code and model and we can explain it.
Why won't my oven grill work?
A dead grill is usually a failed grill element or its own thermostat or cut-out, separate from the main oven element. If the oven heats but the grill does not, that points to the grill element. Tell us the model and we can guide you.
