Draining water puzzle . . .
The washing machine is an LG WD1200D.
After completing a wash normally, the next wash wouldn't drain (made a different beeping noise with four of the lights on the selection dial plus the spin speed settings all flashing).
Water still flowed from the drum into the pump cavity (no problem manually draining the water) and the drain hose was clear. After a bit of googling I decided it was probably a pump failure (the machine is about seven years old and it was suggested pump failures are quite normal at this stage).
Installed the new pump today, put everything together and it did exactly the same thing.
Any thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi. Aye it's not a good idea to replace any part unless you've established it is faulty. With a water pump on a washing machine you do that by testing it with a continuity tester and establishing whether it is being supplied with power and has a neutral return.
Presumably the pump is not running at all. So that would imply there isn't a blockage somewhere, which is the most common reason.
And if you fitted a new pump it rules out the pump being jammed or faulty as the fault is still present. So that leaves the possibility that the pump isn't being supplied with power, or it is but there's no neutral return.
I have a help article that covers all possible causes though it doesn't give detailed guidance on electrical fault finding. That's something that I feel people either know and can do themselves or should get a professional engineer.
Washing machine not draining

Yes, Andy, as far as I can tell things come to a halt at once when the system tries to drain water (the different sound I mentioned and various flashing lights).
Is the pump definitely not running as apposed to running but not pumping?

Indeed, Andy, it was a failed punt . . . shortcuts sometimes aren't short!
Yes, in my relative ignorance I'd tentatively concluded that it must therefore be an "electrical" problem. In that field, my ignorance is very nearly total so I shall either have to get somebody in or buy a new one.
Much appreciate your response.
