Hoover washing machine leak
Hi all,
My Hoover VT815D22x has been leaking, pooling water from the underside of the machine.
On looking inside, I can see there is a trail of water coming from near the bolt holding the weight to the underside of the drum (above the drain hoses). I haven't been able to find any trail of water from further up visible from the underside or with the back of the machine taken off.
There does not appear to be an issue with the drain hoses themselves. I also cannot see there's an issue with the door seal.
I have not been able to investigate any further yet but does anyone have any ideas where this might be coming from?

Hi. You would need to remove the weight to see. But there's a good chance it's leaking from the plastic drum, possibly around the bolt fixings. Especially if it's been making a knocking noise recently.
It's possible it could be leaking from where the door seal fits onto the drum though that's rarer.

Hi. I was talking about if the whole bolt was turning, which would mean it's no longer held in the bracket, not the nut turning but not actually unscrewing as in a damaged thread in the bolt. Which one is it?

As in the part of the outer drum where the bolt goes through to hold the weight on has cracked and caused the leak?
That central bolt will unscrew normally and come out about 90% of the way but then turns freely. I did screw it all the way back in and tightened it up. That all felt normal for a bolt and housing setup to me?
Hi. If the bolt turns in its fixings it may be because the fixing has broken and that’s the source of the leak. Sounds like it could need a new drum. Maybe not worth repairing.
The bolts are slotted inside plastic fixings above the weight and can’t turn unless the fixing is broken.

Thank you Andy, I tried to take the weight off but the bolts will not come out - they unscrew to a point and then keep rotating without coming out.
I have discovered that in fact the leak seems to be coming from the area around the central weight bolt (odd because originally it seemed to be from the one on the right, but on further testing that area has remained dry and it is only the central bolt area with a few drips appearing (attached pictures zoomed in view and stepped back view for context of placement).
In the meantime, if I can't get the weight off would filling that area with epoxy glue offer some measure of a fix?
