Samsung microwave keeps blowing the fuse
I've got a Samsung microwave (MC28M6055CK) that's around a year old and it trips the plug fuse / RCD as soon as I start it. Really hoping it's a cheap fix.

If it trips as soon as you press Start, that usually points to a fault in the high-voltage side rather than something simple like the door catch, although it’s hard to be certain without testing. Unfortunately, microwave faults that blow fuses/RCDs are not often “cheap fixes”, and they can be dangerous to investigate.
1. First, note exactly what is tripping: - If it blows the 13A plug fuse, that suggests a heavy current fault/short. - If it trips the RCD/RCBO, that suggests current leaking to earth. - If it only happens on microwave heating, but not on clock/light/turntable-only functions, that strongly implicates the high-voltage circuit.
2. Try a simple isolation check: - Test it on a different wall socket if possible. - Remove any extension leads. - If it still trips immediately when heating starts, the fault is inside the microwave.
3. Check whether it trips on all cooking modes: - Microwave only - Grill only - Combination mode If grill works but microwave mode trips, that narrows it to parts such as the high-voltage transformer/inverter, capacitor, diode or magnetron.
4. Inspect only externally: - Look for damage to the mains lead or plug. - Check the plug fuse is the correct rating.
5. Do not remove the cover unless you are properly trained: - Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged.
Given the symptoms, I’d strongly recommend a qualified microwave engineer. Isolate it from the mains before any inspection, and for any internal, mains, or high-voltage work use a competent professional.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
