A few days ago my Neff washer/dryer stopped mid program and displayed the following on the screen. The water wouldnt drain so i drained it manually but now any program i try to run i just get the same thing on the display and none of the buttons work. I cant find anything about this online so any help would be hugely appriciated!!

It sounds like the machine has latched into a fault state after stopping with water still inside. On Neff/BSH washer-dryers, the exact display matters, but if it won’t drain and the controls are unresponsive, the most common causes are still around the drain system or a failed lock/control issue.

Before checking anything internal, isolate the appliance from the mains.

1. Note the exact display Please post the exact letters/numbers shown, as Neff fault indications can be model-specific. A photo is best if possible.

2. Check the drain filter/pump area If accessible on your model, open the pump filter flap and check for fluff, coins, hair grips or other debris. Also inspect the pump impeller behind the filter to see if it turns freely but with a slight magnetic “stepping” feel.

3. Check the drain hose Make sure the hose isn’t kinked, blocked, pushed too far down the standpipe, or frozen with gunge. Also check the sink spigot if it drains under the sink.

4. Try a reset On some Neff washer-dryers, turning the selector to Off, waiting a few minutes, then selecting a drain/spin programme can clear a stalled cycle. If the buttons remain dead, that points more towards a control, interlock, or persistent fault lock.

5. Check the door lock If the machine thinks the door is not safely locked, it may refuse all programmes. See whether the door closes firmly and whether the lock engages normally.

If the pump is clear but it still won’t respond, the likely suspects are the drain pump itself, door interlock, wiring, or the main control board. Those checks involve live electrical testing, so I’d recommend a qualified appliance engineer. If you can post the full model number and exactly what the display shows, I can narrow it down further.

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
