Hi all,

Sorry for barging in, I've searched the internet for any info on this issue but can't find anything and this is my last resort.

Basically, last year I bought one of the fancy series 6 washer dryers from Bosch. Have been fairly happy with its performance until about two weeks ago when it just wouldn't turn on. I tried turning it on and all the lights around the knob were red and the whole panel was lit up. There was no response when I tried using the panel, it wouldn't even turn off. Had to turn it off on the mains, after turning the mains back on the machine never turned back on again. Only feedback I'd get from the machine was some clicking, but then nothing would happen.

Tried all the different tricks, tested the socket with a different device, tested plugging the washer dryer to a different socket. No reaction from the washer dryer and the socket seemed to be fine with other devices.

Called Bosch for support, waited for someone to come on the following weekend. Halfway through the week I tried to turn it on but nothing.

Once the engineer arrived on the weekend he turned it on and it magically worked. He did all these different tests, checked the error log, but had no clue what happened. He seemed very competent and maybe it was just a one time thing? I imagine there was some sort of safety lock that triggered and after a few days it unlocked.

Anyway didn't think much about it - did a wash yesterday. Was about to do another one today, I pressed the power button and suddenly, once again, the RED RING OF DEATH (how I'm calling it - all lights and the panel on) showed up. Couldn't get rid of it, no reaction at all. Turned the mains on and off and again, no reaction. Seems like I'll have to go to the laundrette again this week...

Managed to get an engineer booked for next week, but in total it'll be 3 weeks without a functioning washing machine and the thought of another week using the laundrette just depressed me. Also worried it'll fix itself when the engineer comes next week only to revert back to its current state... so if you have any pointers I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you all in advance!

Hello. It's always extremely frustrating when faults are intermittent. As an engineer I always hated that too. The only thing I can say is that the clicking sounds like some relay that's either not working properly or not being responded to. This is likely to be in the main PCB. The only positive thing I can say is that you now have a video that you can show to the engineer if by any chance it does spring into life when they try it. They will have no option but to witness the symptoms and should be able to act upon it. It may well need a new control board or main PCB.

Hello, just updating the thread:

Engineer came, replaced the PCB, programmed it and the issue wasn't resolved...

He's going to order another part related with the "controls" (he used another word but forgot!). So frustrating, bought a machine I thought would be good, at a higher price, payed for extended warranty from John Lewis and it's been almost a month without being able to wash my clothes 😕 Will let you know what the issue was if it ever gets fixed!

Thanks Andy,

Machine is still dead, hopefully the engineer will figure it out
