Hisense microwave grill function not working
I've got a Hisense microwave that's around a year old and (combi) the microwave works but the grill element won't heat. Really hoping it's a cheap fix.

If the microwave side still heats food normally but the grill does nothing, the fault is usually somewhere in the grill circuit rather than the main microwave system. It could be simple, but it does need narrowing down carefully.
1. Check the programme/settings first Make sure you’re definitely selecting Grill or Combi correctly, and try a pure grill cycle for a few minutes with the cavity empty only if the manual allows it. Some combi models reduce grill output depending on the mode chosen.
2. Look for any obvious signs from the element When set to grill, the top element should normally begin to get hot fairly quickly. If it stays completely cold, common causes are: - failed grill element - faulty thermostat/thermal cut-out - relay or control board fault - wiring fault to the grill circuit
3. Inspect for visible damage Isolate the appliance from the mains before removing any covers. Check for burnt connectors, loose wiring, or a visibly damaged grill element. A grill element can fail open circuit without much visible evidence.
4. Test the grill element and safety devices With a meter, the grill element should show continuity. Also check any thermal cut-outs/thermostats in the grill circuit. If one has operated or failed, the grill won’t heat at all.
5. Consider warranty/value At around a year old, it may still be under manufacturer or retailer warranty, so that’s worth checking before paying for repair.
Because microwaves contain high-voltage components that can remain dangerous even when unplugged, I’d strongly recommend a qualified engineer for internal testing. Avoid DIY work on mains or high-voltage microwave parts.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
