Hi to all.
Last Sunday the washing machine stopped & the following error appeared. Aqua Stop.
So out with the torx drivers & took the top & back off. The bottom of the machine had filled with water.
Fault traced to a hose popped off the drum. Replaced this and dried the bottom of machine.
Switched on again a few hours later, and now on a wash cycle or spin the drum only rotates about a quarter turn this is accompanied with a loud high pitched squeal only it's not a squeal.
Pulled the motor out & checked brushes, all good. Checked all terminals for resistance good except no reading for the speed sensor.
Assumed this was the problem so purchased a recon motor. This arrived a few days later, checked all terminals for resistance before fitting & same results.
So I fit the recon unit anyway but the fault is still present.
Drive belt is not slipping & drum rotates freely by hand as it should.
It's almost like a brake is applied when it starts to turn.
There are no errors displayed.
This fault was not present until the machine stopped due to the leak.
Looked at the fault section, but my symptoms don't match any of them.
I know its an old machine circa 11 years old, but it has been an excellent machine.
Any help would be most gratefully received.

Could any water have got onto electrics and damaged the control pcb?

If the motor flashes / sparks when it briefly turns it could be worth checking the brushes but it sounds like something different especially if the fault only occurred after the leak. A motor turning just very briefly and then stopping is often caused by a faulty module but I've known a fault inside the motor causing similar.

Motor doesn't run properly with out the belt on, runs for a second or 2.
So I'm assuming the module is defective. At £170 it would appear that repair is not viable. Access to this module doesn't look to good either.
A module is a PCB. If it got wet it could account for some shorting out which is stopping the motor from running properly but if the belt is slipping it can cause a screeching noise if the motor is turning inside the belt and of course the drum wouldn't turn properly. Does the motor turn ok with the belt off?

The hose that pooped off the drum was on the L/H side (as you look at it) beneath the soap dispenser,

Water ran down the side of the machine as the sound proofing foam (I assume it's for sound proofing) was wet.
Now that you mention it there is a plastic box on that side. Just had a quick nose, don't think there's a PCB in there.
I believe it's the motor module item no 48 3669.

Could this be the cause do you think?
I marked the belt & pulley the other day when investigating, I now notice that the belt is obviously slipping slightly, would this cause the problem?
Doubtful I think.
