Make Wm Fill With More Water
Hi all, great forum. I didn't know one even existed
I have a Bosch WAS28466GB/05 Washing Machine
It is one of these 'Eco' machines which personally I think is rubbish. It never seems to wash clothes or rinse as well as my cheapo Beko machine. I believe the reason is that there never seems to be enough water in the machine. The water pressure is fine, no filters clogged etc
It has always been like this since day one so I suspect its a design of the machine and not the actual pressure sensor.
Is there anyway to alter this or allow the machine to fill with more water. There is an actual setting on the machine to allow more water but I can never tell the difference.
The water never comes up more that 10% of the drum.
Any thoughts?
Thanks all

Hi, and welcome. What you’re seeing is very likely normal for that Bosch rather than a fault. Modern Bosch “eco” washers often use surprisingly little visible water, and on many models the clothes are lifted through a shallow pool rather than sitting in a deep bath of water. So seeing only a small amount at the bottom of the drum is not, by itself, proof of underfilling.
A few sensible checks:
1. Check it on a rinse cycle Rinses usually give a better clue than the wash phase. If it still seems very mean on rinse, that’s more useful diagnostically than judging the main wash alone.
2. Use the “Water Plus” or similar option If your model has an extra water / extra rinse setting, try it with a mixed cotton load. On some machines the increase is modest, so the difference can be hard to see.
3. Don’t underload or overload These machines can judge load size. Very small loads may use very little water, but overloaded drums can also wash poorly because items can’t move properly.
4. Check wash performance rather than water level alone If it heats, tumbles properly, drains well and spins normally, then poor results may be down to programme choice, detergent, load size, or low wash temperatures rather than actual low fill.
5. If you suspect a pressure system issue If it genuinely rinses badly on every programme, a pressure chamber/pressure switch fault is possible, but altering the water level is not normally an adjustable user setting on modern Bosch machines.
Important: always isolate the appliance from the mains before inspecting any internal parts. I wouldn’t recommend trying to modify the fill level, as it can upset heating, rinsing and overflow protection. If you want internal checks done, use a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
