Beko Wmb 71642 Rubber Door Clamp Seal
Hi all,
After my wife successfully overloading the washing machine AGAIN, the metal clamp seal has come off, with the usual results of water everywhere.
As far as I can see the metal clamp seal looks ok, is it possible to re-attach round the rubber seal again ? And if so any pointers onto how to do this ?
Regards
Brian

Hello Brian, it's very unusual for a metal door seal clamp band to come off, the consequences of one coming off can be disastrous so they are usually designed to stay on. If it's a clamp band with a nut and bolt through it's just a question of tightening it as tight as it will go without over tightening it to the point where the clamp will break. It's also unusual for a washing machine to jump about so violently as to pull off the clamp band as they are supposed to have out of balance protection these days. However the cheaper brands, and beko are one of the cheaper brands, may not have a sophisticated system in place. If it's happened before and the door seal was refitted only for it to happen again I'd consider replacing the door seal and the clamp band but it could just be a poor design.

Hi
Thanks for your advice. It was indeed a non standard screwdriver bit and I managed to locate it in B&Q. As a result I managed to re-fit the outer wire seal round the front door so the Washing Machine is now operational....only for
my lovely wife to break the Tumble Dryer with her bra wire...

The screws used vary from brand to brand and from machine to machine but many of them have hexagonal sides which allow them to be turned with a spanner as well as posit drive type heads in the centre for a normal screwdriver.
Some of them make annoying attempts to make it harder for ordinary people to have a look inside but none of the screws should be impossible to undo. It may be that you need a non-standard screwdriver bit although to be honest these days most of these non-standard screws are just the new standard that people haven't caught up with. You can easily buy a set of multiple screw head bits from places like B&Q and other DIY stores or tool shops.

Cheers,
Is a special screw-driver required to take the top off this machine? Seems secured by two screws that need a six-sided screwdriver...
