Beko Machine Fault

My machine has now stopped working.

I set a programme, the machine kicks in makes the right noises as if it's about to start and then just cuts off. The power and wash lights stay on but it won't reset or cancel no matter how long I keep my finger on the button.

It won't let me reset so can't get into test mode.

Anyone able to help??

Thanks

It sounds like the machine is starting the cycle, then dropping out before it properly runs. That can be caused by anything from a simple door-lock problem to a control fault, so the best approach is to narrow it down.

1. Do a full power reset Unplug the washing machine from the mains for at least 10–15 minutes, then plug it back in and try a short rinse or spin. If the buttons were locked up by the electronics, this sometimes clears it.

2. Check the door is definitely locking Start a programme and listen for a firm click from the door lock. If it clicks once, then the machine cuts out, a faulty door interlock is still possible. If the door never properly locks, the machine may sit with lights on but not proceed.

3. See if there is water left inside If there is water in the drum, check the pump filter for blockage and make sure the drain hose is not kinked or blocked. A draining issue can stop the programme and leave the controls behaving oddly.

4. Watch what happens in the first 30 seconds Does it fill with water, try to turn the drum, or just hum then stop? - Fills then stops: possible heating, motor, or control issue - Tries to turn then cuts out: possible motor brushes (if fitted), capacitor, wiring, or PCB fault - Nothing except clicking: door lock or control board more likely

5. Inspect only if competent Isolate from the mains before removing any panels. Check for loose connections, burning around the mains filter, door lock, or control board.

If it still will not reset and won’t enter test mode, a failed door interlock, wiring fault, or PCB is quite possible. For any internal electrical testing, use a qualified appliance engineer. WhitegoodsHelp AI

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
