We recently bought this machine, very happy with it. But the estimated wash time differs greatly from the actual.
For instance, using the cottons programme, 40 degrees, normal soil, the display says 2:32hrs.
It's then done in an hour and a half. Is this normal?
My memory is that the first wash we did (only a fortnight ago) took the full two and a half hours, which seemed long.

The predicted wash times can be quite inaccurate, they can also change dramatically during the cycle. Only yesterday our tumble dryer jumped from an hour and a half left to about 45 minutes 10 mins later. Things that can affect times are the temperature of the water going in (which varies depending on the outside temperature), the level of soiling and even how well balanced the load is. If it took an hour and a half but appears to have finished all the cycle and left laundry clean and spun dry I wouldn't be concerned at the moment.
There is a possibility something went wrong and it aborted the wash cycle. However, if that happened there should be some sort of fault indication by either an error code being displayed or some unusual lights flashing.

Thanks Andy, appreciate the reply. My other half isn't convinced it's behaving itself and it's only two weeks old so a visit from the Miele engineer won't hurt I guess. I'll post a follow-up here when that's happened.
Ok please do. Bear in mind most manufacturer's commonly threaten to charge if their engineer finds no fault so make sure you are pretty sure it's not right first.

Presume there was no follow-up here as Joe never posted again. I've got a new WMB120 and had the same thing myself with a bedding wash (king size duvet cover, sheet & pillow). Cottons 50C programme, started off saying 2h39m but this reduced during the cycle and it ended up taking about 1h15m total.
Everything seems to have worked fine - the detergent has been dispensed and thoroughly rinsed out and the items are clean. The machine can sense the load so I presume it's just doing that and, once it realises there's only a few kilos in there, reduces the cycle time accordingly.
