Keeps Stopping During Cycle F17 Error Bosch
HI
I have a bosch avantixx approx 5 years old and it keeps stopping during the cycle flashing up the F17 Error
It first stops about 10 minutes into the cycle with the F17, it seems to keep draining long after the water has gone
The F17 Error flashes up at least 2 more times throughout the cycle so I have to press the start button to continue, this happens about 3 times and then it finishes,
I have checked that following:
Hose is not kinked
Filter has been washed
Filter on the inlet is clear
Blew down the pipe from the pressure switch, that's clear
Checked the large piece of plastic that the pressure switch pipe goes to, that's clear
Using a temporary machine at the moment and that works fine in it's place so not a drainage pipe issue or pressure problem
I bought a pressure switch from bosch to see if that was the problem but they sent me the wrong one so have had to return it
Any help will be most gratefully received

The only reference I have to F17 error on my Bosch error codes list refers to "faulty water valve detected" but I can't be sure if it's relevant to your model or not. However, timing out and aborting with an error after 10 minutes wouldn't be far off what I'd expect if it was a faulty valve. When a wash cycle starts, after a short period of pumping it fills up with water. If the water hasn't reached the correct level (detected by the pressure system) after several minutes the program would abort with an appropriate error.
The only other thing I can think of that might bring up an error in such a relatively short time is if the heating element wasn't working. After filling with water the heater is energised and the temperature of the water is monitored. If the temperature doesn't rise after a set amount of time it will decide the heater isn't working and abort with an erro.
If the washing machine definitely fills with water, and fills for about a minute or so and then starts washing I'd look at the not heating water side of things but if it doesn't fill with water or fills but the water goes down the drain it's a filling issue.

There's no need to speculatively replace a heating element. Many people do and it's just a waste of time and money as nothing changes. You can test a heating element easily with a continuity test meter although I appreciate not everyone has one. They are pretty cheap at places like Tandy though. I have the other machine for the next 2 months so I have plenty of time to pick up a cheap element and give that a go, if it doesn't work I won't have lost anything
Thanks for all of the information it was most appreciated
