Soap drawer
Hi I have a dyson CR01. The soap drawer will not latch. Anyone tell me how to fix or where the catch is so I can clean it. I have cleaned all visible gunk and soap, but it just wont latch.
Thanks
Eugene

Hi Eugene,
On a Dyson CR01 the dispenser drawer usually doesn’t “lock” with a heavy catch like some other machines, so if it won’t stay shut it’s often due to something being out of place, a broken latch tab, or the drawer/front panel being slightly misaligned.
1. Isolate the washing machine from the mains first before inspecting anything closely.
2. Remove the drawer fully if you can. Most have a release tab in the softener section or a small plastic stop that needs pressing down while pulling the drawer out. Check both the drawer sides and the housing rails for a cracked or worn plastic tab.
3. Look inside the drawer opening with a torch. You’re looking for: - dried detergent buildup at the back or on the runners - a small springy plastic catch that may be stuck, snapped or missing - anything fallen behind the drawer stopping it going fully home
4. Check the drawer insert is fitted correctly. If one of the internal compartments is sitting proud, the drawer can feel as if it won’t latch when actually it just isn’t reaching its closed position.
5. Inspect the fascia around the drawer. If the front panel is loose or distorted, the drawer can pop back out. Tighten any accessible screws around the dispenser area.
6. If the drawer slides in but springs back, the latch itself is likely damaged. On many machines this means replacing either the complete drawer or dispenser housing parts rather than cleaning.
If you can post a photo of the drawer removed and the opening, it would help narrow down whether it’s a broken catch or a housing alignment issue. For any internal electrical work, use a qualified engineer.
