LG F1247TD5 noise - pump?

Thanks Andy... it is indeed a direct drive machine. After a bit more digging, it looks like it could be the re-circulation nozzle being clogged up with gunk, causing the pump to make that noise. I had a go at cleaning the nozzle and it was indeed full of gunk but unfortunately water is still not getting through (it's weeping at best) so I need to get the lid off to access the hose and see if I can clean the hose.

I'll report back once I've done this...

Hello. I didn't realise it was on wash, I assumed it was on the spin cycle. Had a realised I would have said it's likely to be the circulation pump. It might need a new one. That noise sounds more like a faulty bearing than gunged up but please report back with updates.

It took me a while to get round to fixing this but I bought a new pump / housing unit, replaced this and is now quiet! Thanks for your help & advice :-)

My machine is not making any noises on spin so it's not a bearing and only during the wash cycle.

It was the recirculation pump. These machines have 2 pumps - 1 to drain and 1 to recirculate the water. You can either replace the individual pump, or there's a unit that is the part with 2 pumps already attached (I went for this option - it worked out cheaper than a pump on it's own!)

This video give you a general guide on how to access the pump, but don't bother removing the front panel with the door - it doesn't come off! (I only discovered this after removing the door seal, which turned out to be a waste of time!)

Once you've removed the kick panel and the top panel, you'll see the pump at the bottom of the machine. Be warned it's quite fiddly with tight access, but with a bit of perseverance and patience, it can be done (and is very satisfying afterwards). Whilst the machine was apart, i took the opportunity to clean the pipes that i could access from the detergent draw, recirculation pipe etc. It's amazing how much gunk was in those pipes

I have also identified the same problem with the recirculation pump. We had a blockage which I have unblocked and the noise reduced however the pump still makes a significant noise on start-up so I'm guessing it was damaged under the strain. The unit you replaced (housing both pumps), was it called a Drain Pump Assembly?
