Hoover DYN8163D8X flashes and stops!
Hi all. My Hoover DYN8163D8X started ok this morning on a mild wash (108 minutes). But when it got to 45 minutes to go it started flashing, then clicked and switched off. Now the machine display keeps coming back on. flashing the test screen, goes to 45 minutes and then switches off.
Could this be the control board U/S? Or a simple problem ?

It could be the control board, but from your description I wouldn’t jump straight to that. Hoover/Candy machines can behave oddly if there’s a problem with draining, heating, the door lock, or the power supply to the board. The fact it repeatedly comes back on and shows 45 minutes suggests it’s failing at the same stage of the cycle.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the washing machine from the mains.
1. Check if it has water left inside If it stopped mid-cycle around 45 minutes, a drain fault is a common cause. Check the drain filter/pump filter for blockage, and make sure the drain hose isn’t kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe.
2. Listen for what happens at 45 minutes If it clicks and dies when it should be heating or spinning, that helps narrow it down. A failed heater or motor carbon issue can cause some models to stop at a repeatable point.
3. Check the door lock behaviour If the door lock is weak or intermittent, the machine may click off or reset. See whether the door feels securely locked when it tries to restart.
4. Inspect for obvious signs of damage If you are competent to remove the top/back, look for burnt connectors, especially on the main board, heater wiring, motor plug, and mains filter area.
5. Try a rinse/spin or drain-only programme If these work, but a full wash fails at the same point, that points more towards heating, motor, or control issues rather than a complete board failure.
If it’s flashing a proper fault code sequence from LEDs, post exactly which lights flash and in what pattern, as that may narrow it down. If there are signs of burning, or if mains testing is needed, it’s best left to a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
