Error e03 only drains when i scoop what i can
Hi i have a hoover washing machine only a year and a bit old. It has recently started showing the e03 error. If i open the valve only water comes out no gunk can be found inside. If i open the door and scoop out as much water as possible, then the drain cycle completes. If there is a decent amount of water it won't. Please help

E03 on many Hoover/Candy washing machines usually points to a draining problem, but the exact cause can vary. From what you’ve described, it sounds less like a total blockage and more like a weak drain pump, a partial restriction, or a drain hose issue. Isolate the appliance from the mains before inspecting any internal parts.
1. Check the drain filter again Even if no “gunk” came out, make sure the filter is fully removed and check right inside the pump housing with a torch. Small items like hair grips, coins, elastic bands or fabric can sit behind the filter and restrict flow.
2. Check the pump impeller Behind the filter you should see the little pump impeller. It should turn, but with a slight magnetic resistance. If it’s jammed, damaged, or very loose on its shaft, the pump may run but not shift a full tub of water.
3. Inspect the drain hose Make sure the hose at the back isn’t kinked, crushed, or pushed too far down the standpipe under the sink. Also check for a partial blockage in the hose or spigot.
4. Check the sump hose If accessible, the large hose from the tub to the pump can trap socks, debris or sludge. A partial blockage here can let it drain only when the water level is lower.
5. Likely weak pump If it only drains once you remove most of the water manually, the pump may be failing under load and may need replacing.
If the machine is only just over a year old, also check any retailer warranty or Hoover guarantee. If you’re not confident, get a qualified appliance engineer, especially for any mains-related work.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
