Miele W5740
Hi The Washing machine starts and cuts out (no power or faults on display) half way through cycle in any of the programs. it does not trip the electric or the fuse just needs switching on again at the front and then you can start again.

If the machine is going completely dead mid-cycle, then coming back only after you press the power button again, that usually points to a power supply interruption inside the washer rather than a normal wash fault. Because there’s no fault code and it’s not tripping the electrics, the most likely causes are the on/off switch, mains filter, wiring connection, or the main control board/power supply section.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the washing machine from the mains.
1. Check the simple external supply first Make sure the plug is sound, the socket is not loose, and the mains lead isn’t damaged or trapped. If possible, try a different wall socket temporarily.
2. Note exactly when it cuts out Does it always happen when heating, spinning, or after a similar length of time? If it dies when the heater should come on, that can sometimes point to a weak connection or control issue under load.
3. Check for signs of overheating or burning If you are competent to remove the top/lid, inspect the mains filter, on/off switch area, and wiring plugs for heat damage, discolouration, or loose connectors.
4. Pay attention to the door lock behaviour If the machine dies but the door stays locked for a while, the control may have lost power mid-programme. If it unlocks immediately, that can help narrow down whether the board is fully shutting down.
5. Likely internal suspects On this type of fault, the main PCB/power supply section is a strong possibility, though a failing switch or poor connection can do the same.
If you’re not confident testing live supply circuits, it’s best to get a qualified appliance engineer in, as mains electrical diagnosis is needed here. WhitegoodsHelp AI
Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
