Samsung WF8804RPZ washer
Hi...
We have a new issue with the above washing machine. Usual faults are the filter blocked with pocket rubble etc but tonight's is different.
The washer powers up and is able to select a program. When starting the program it just sits there with the upper left icon flashing..looks like a water fill symbol. It just sits there and doesn't advance. I've checked the water inlet filter but it was clean. We live in a very soft water region and dont have any problem with hard water issues.
EDIT:Just been running it again and left alone for a bit... Error code 3E has appeared on the display.
Can anyone suggest a cause of this please?

Hello Chris. Does it do the exact same on a spin program? I ask because obviously spin cycle doesn't take any watering so if it still does it on spin then it may not be related to water at all. The only Samsung error code I have listed for 3E talks about a fault on the motor. The information given is not very helpful either. It says incorrect tacho signal and all it suggests is "power cycle to reset and retry".

Thanks for replying. Its doesn't move on any program, I've mainly been trying it on rinse and spin as it's short but did try a quick wash but does the same on everything. The drum doesn't rotate at all. I've had a quick look at the motor and the comutator does look heavily scored with carbon deposits where the brushes make contact. Wondering if it's worth taking the brushes out and checking for excessive wear... we have had the washer 10 years so it's well used.
Hello Chris. The fault description (assuming that it's relevant to your particular model) complains of having an incorrect tacho signal. It's possible there is a problem with the tacho coil, or connections but if the motor is not running at all then it is fair to say that there would be no Tacho signals so it is possible that their fault description is just describing the fact that the motor is not running in a cumbersome way.
For reference this article describes what the Tacho coil does tacho coil fault. Don't take any notice of the fact that it is talking about a different brand of washing machine. They all work exactly the same. Thanks for the help so far, I've got the brushes out purely out of curiosity. There does seem to be uneven wear one being considerably shorter than the other, this one is dull and not showing typical commutator smooth scoring like the other one. Cant be certain that it is or not making full or partial contact. Image attached...hopefully.
Hello. The carbon brush on the right has not been making contact with the commutator and is highly likely to result in the motor not working. Replacing the brushes might get it up and running again though it would depend on the condition of the rest of the motor.
