I am aware of the part being obsolete as it is a old machine the issue is it will not operate on the spin cycle apparently been told a small spring is missing.if someone can help me I would be very grateful.

Hi Altaf,

On this Bosch, the **door handle/door catch assembly** and its small spring are often what fail, and if the door isn’t latching properly the machine may refuse to go into **spin** because it doesn’t see the door as safely locked.

1. **Confirm the exact fault** - Does the door feel loose, floppy, or not spring back normally? - Does it shut properly and click into place? - If the machine washes but won’t spin, it could still be a **door interlock issue**, but it can also be caused by **drainage problems** or worn motor brushes on older Bosch models.

2. **Check the handle assembly** - Part **00424906** is obsolete on many suppliers now. - If the **small spring in the handle** has come off or broken, the handle may not return the latch correctly, which can stop the interlock engaging fully.

3. **Look for alternatives** - Search by full model **WFLI2440GB/14** with terms like: - “Bosch door handle kit” - “Bosch 00424906 replacement” - “used Bosch WFLI2440 door handle” - Try UK appliance spares firms, eBay, or breaker/used-parts sellers. Sometimes a **complete used door frame/handle assembly** is easier to find than the spring alone.

4. **Don’t assume it’s only the handle** - If the door closes firmly, also check whether it is **draining fully** before spin. - If it pumps out but still won’t spin, the **door interlock**, **motor brushes**, or control issue may need checking.

Please **isolate the appliance from the mains before inspecting any internal parts**. If testing the interlock, wiring, or motor is needed, it’s best left to a **qualified appliance engineer**.
