Bosch Washer Machine Displays Weight When Trying to Start a Cycle
Hi All
Ive looked at the troubleshooting page.
Ive recently bought a Bosch Washer Machine WAT28371GB. At first the washer machine would be fine however recently it now doesn’t start when loaded and displays a weight for the corresponding programme. The load in the machine is less than weight for the programme. This doesn’t feel right does anyone know how I would stop this from happening.
thanks in advance

Hi,
What you’re seeing may not be a fault at all. On many Bosch machines, the display can show the recommended or detected load for the selected programme, and that can appear before the cycle actually starts. If it then refuses to run, the important thing is to work out whether it’s simply waiting for something, or whether there’s a genuine sensing or control issue.
Try these checks:
1. Check the door is definitely locking Start a programme and listen for the door lock clicking. If the door isn’t locking properly, the machine may sit there showing information without starting.
2. Press and hold Start/Pause properly On some Bosch models you need to press and hold Start for a second or two rather than just tapping it.
3. Turn off any delay start or special options If delay start, reload, or certain options are selected, it can look as though it’s not responding normally.
4. Try a simple test programme Run a short rinse/spin or quick wash with an empty drum, then with just a couple of towels. If it starts empty but not with laundry, that helps narrow it down to load sensing, imbalance detection, or programme selection.
5. Redistribute the load Large single items or uneven loads can confuse the balance/load detection even if the weight is under the stated maximum.
6. Reset the machine Turn it off, leave it for 5 minutes, then try again. Check the user manual as Bosch models sometimes have a specific reset method.
7. If it still won’t start There could be an issue with the door interlock, pressure system, control board, or load detection logic.
Safety reminder: isolate the appliance from the mains before inspecting any internal parts. For any internal electrical testing or repairs, use a qualified appliance engineer.
If you can say exactly what happens after pressing Start (locks, pumps, clicks, nothing at all, any symbols), that would help narrow it down.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
