Hotpoint pump replacement
HI,
I have a Hotpoint WMD962P washing machine with an F11 fault. This appears to be a drain pump failure, after watching a tutorial on espares I removed the old pump, an Askoll M231 and checked the resistance which was at 266, apparently should only be 230. So i ordered a replacement. The new part is an Askoll M231XP with slightly different pin configuration but, more importantly, is rated at .2A and 40w, where the old is .2a and 34w. It is proving very difficult to get the exact part as the machine is over 10 years old. Is it worth fitting the 40w motor or should I hold out until I can get the 34W?

I wouldn't have thought such a small difference in readings would make any difference. With a pump, they are usually either open circuit, and don't run, or there's a resistance reading and they run.

That's what I thought, thanks for the update. This is the problem with error codes, they just take over and hide the actual symptoms. What you need to ask yourself is, is the water being pumped out or not? Is the washer left full of water or with the water pumped away. If it's the latter then it doesn't matter what the error code says it can't be a pump fault. A pump fault just stops water being drained away. If water is being pumped out but the washing machine thinks it isn't, then that can cause the error, that can be caused by blockages in the pressure system.

Thanks for the reply, since my post I have come to the conclusion that the pump might not be the problem. The new pump measured the same resistance, 266 ohms. Base on that fact I think the issue lies elsewhere, maybe the control mechanism that tells the machine to drain is screwed up. I checked all drainage channels are not blocked, so must ne motor or controller, as an ill educated guess.
