Daewoo error E8
Hi, I have checked the other forum in case this was mentioned but couldn't find anything, or anything within this relating to E8 error. Machine is 6 years old and used at least 4 times a week. Is it worth repairing if indeed it's even possible? Many thanks.

Hi, E8 on a Daewoo washing machine can mean different things depending on the exact model, so I wouldn’t want to guess at the fault without narrowing it down first. On a 6-year-old machine, it may still be worth repairing if the problem is something simple such as a draining, motor, or sensor issue.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the appliance from the mains.
1. Check the model number Daewoo used different control systems, so the full model number from the rating plate is important. That gives the best chance of identifying what E8 refers to on your version.
2. Note exactly when E8 appears Does it show: - as soon as you switch on? - during filling? - when it should start spinning? - near the end of the wash? This helps tell whether it’s likely to be a fill, drain, motor, or balance/control fault.
3. Check the basics - Clean the pump filter - Check the drain hose for blockage or kinks - Make sure the drum is not overloaded - Try a spin-only or drain-only programme and see what happens
4. Listen to what the machine does before the error For example, does it fill with water, try to turn the drum, hum, or fail to drain? Those symptoms are often more useful than the code alone.
5. Is it worth repairing? Usually yes if it turns out to be a blockage, pump, brushes (if fitted), or a simple sensor issue. Less so if it needs a main PCB or major drum/bearing work.
If you can post the full model number and say exactly when E8 appears, I can help narrow it down further. For mains-related testing or internal electrical repairs, use a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
