It sounds like the machine will power up and begin a wash cycle, but when it should start filling, it just clicks and goes no further. Because rinse/spin works, the motor, drain pump and at least some of the control side are probably OK. The fault is more likely around water fill, door locking, or programme control.

Please isolate the appliance from the mains before removing any panels or checking internal parts.

1. Check the water supply Make sure the tap feeding the washer is fully open and the inlet hose isn’t kinked or squashed behind the machine.

2. Clean the inlet filter Turn off the water, remove the inlet hose from the back of the washer, and check the small mesh filter in the valve for blockage. A partially blocked filter can stop filling on wash programmes.

3. Listen for the door lock When you press start, the door should lock firmly. If it clicks but doesn’t lock properly, the machine may refuse to open the fill valve.

4. Check if water enters on any wash programme Try cottons and a quick wash. If none fill, suspect the water inlet valve or its wiring. If rinse fills but wash does not, it may point more towards a control or selector issue.

5. Watch for immediate draining If it fills and empties straight away, check the drain hose height and that it hasn’t been pushed too far down the standpipe.

If the supply is definitely OK and it still won’t fill on wash, the inlet valve is a common culprit on Beko machines. If internal electrical testing is needed, I’d recommend a qualified engineer, especially for any mains-related checks.

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
