Samsung Top Load Washing Machine Spin issue
Hi
My samsung wa65f5surw/sa top loader has stopped spinning. No error codes, the wash cycle goes as normal but when complete the closes are sopping wet? I have c;leaned the internal filer, was pretty clogged up but still not spinning when i tried after cleaning. When a cycle has finished i disconnected the drain hose from the base of the machine and water flowed out, not loads so the machine is managing to drain some of the water, same also when removing the rear filter.
Any suggestions what else i can try -please?
Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,
If the wash completes but the clothes are still soaking wet, the first thing to establish is whether it’s failing to drain properly, or whether it drains but never gets up to spin speed. On these Samsung top loaders, either can stop a proper spin.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the machine from the mains.
1. Check the drain hose installation Make sure the hose isn’t kinked, squashed, or pushed too far down the standpipe. Also check the drain height isn’t wrong. A partial blockage or poor hose position can leave enough water in the tub to prevent spin.
2. Listen at the spin stage Run a spin-only or rinse/spin cycle if available. Does the pump run strongly? Does the drum try to ramp up, or just shuffle the load about? - If you hear pumping but no real spin attempt, think lid switch, balance sensing, or drive problem. - If it keeps trying to drain and never really spins, suspect restricted drainage or a weak pump.
3. Check for pump restriction Even though you cleaned the filter, debris can still be in the pump housing or hoses. Coins, lint, elastic, hair grips etc can partly block flow. If accessible, check the sump hose and pump impeller for obstruction or damage.
4. Check the lid/door safety switch If the machine does not “see” the lid locked/closed properly, it may wash and agitate but refuse full spin. Watch whether the lid lock engages consistently.
5. Try with a small, even load If it’s badly out of balance, the machine may abandon spin with no obvious fault code. Try a couple of towels evenly distributed.
If it still won’t spin after those checks, it may need testing of the drain pump, lid switch/lock, or motor/control system. Any mains-related testing is best left to a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
