Samsung QDrive making grinding noise when drum is turning
Good evening all,
As the title says there is a low noise whenever the drum on my machine spins. Has only happened in the last week or so which coincides with the machine talking a small walk sideways on occasion. The machine is only about a year old and used to be as quiet as can be so this is way noticeable. I have included some videos of the noise while on a wash and you can even hear it when hand turning the drum. Any advice of anything i can try before i call it into Samsung? It's a WW80M645OPM/EU 8kg machine.

Thanks in advance.

Good evening. If you can hear it even when turning the drum by hand, that’s useful because it points away from just a high-speed motor noise and more towards something rubbing, loose, or a developing bearing/drum support issue. The fact it has also started “walking” makes me think vibration has increased for a reason.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the machine from the mains.
1. Check for a foreign object - Look inside the drum carefully for a bra wire, coin, zip part or similar catching between the inner drum and outer tub. - Slowly turn the drum by hand and listen for a scrape at one point in the rotation. - Check around the door seal for anything trapped.
2. Check drum movement - With the drum empty, lift the stainless drum up at the door opening. - A little movement is normal, but noticeable play or a dull clonk can suggest worn drum bearings or a drum spider issue.
3. Check the machine is properly level - If it has started moving, make sure all four feet are firmly down and locked. - A machine that rocks can become noisy and unstable.
4. Check for signs from the rear - If accessible, look behind for any rubbing marks around the pulley area. - A loose pulley, belt issue or something catching can cause a grinding-type noise.
5. Run an empty rinse/spin - If the noise is present throughout turning, not just spin, that again suggests a mechanical issue rather than load imbalance.
At only about a year old, I would be inclined to contact Samsung sooner rather than later, especially if there is any drum play or roughness when hand turning. If the bearings, drum support or rear tub are involved, that is not really a DIY repair for most people. Use a qualified engineer for any mains, gas, or sealed refrigeration work.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
