Beko not draining, engineer stumped
Hi all, first time on here and hope someone can help! Our 3 year old Beko washer stopped mid cycle full of water a week ago. I drained water through filter outlet (filter completely clear and recently cleaned). Before draining manually I had tried five times to drain and spin the soaking clothes but to no avail. Repair chap advised replacing circuit board which was done the next day. Old circuit board definitely looks burnt out on one part. Machine still has exactly the same problem after replacing the circuit board! It starts to wash then stops dead (yesterday it stopped dead with the display saying 8 minutes left for 40 minutes before then moving to 0 minutes without draining). After paying £80 for a new circuit board I'm loathe to buy a new machine when this one is barely out of it's warranty! My repair chap is completely stumped as he has checked everything he can think of and he was here for hours. He said it seems that electricity is not getting fully to the pump according to his meter reading but the pump is working. I'm starting to think that the new circuit board is also faulty. We have piles of laundry to do and cannot keep asking our friends and neighbours to do it!

I would say the last thing on my list of suspects when a washing machine won’t drain the water is the PCB. They usually have black soot marks on them that looks like burn marks but usually wipes off. That’s normal and not a problem.
Some Hotpoint washing machines don’t activate the pump if there is no water in machine, which is very unhelpful if trying to troubleshoot a problem. It’s possible other makes could do the same. I can’t say if Beko do but if they did it would mean unless there is water in machine the pump won’t get any power.

If a pump isn’t running but tests out ok the first thing an engineer should check is the connections to the pump and then the continuity between the two wires from the pump back to the PCB.

Update:
We got a third man to come out today with another new PCB and new pump but this didn't fix the problem. He has now found and repaired the fault which was simply a broken wire from the PCB to the pump! Five weeks without a washer and £80 down for a part we didn't need, along with now having bought a 'One off repair and 12 month insurance' policy for £186! No wonder people just buy a new machine! I wanted to be green as I hate the throwaway society. Heyho, check the wires man!
Thank you for your reply. I looked at the PCB with a magnifying glass and it looks like distinctive scorch marks not soot.
I'm not sure if the machine had water in at the time the engineer tested the pump.
I'll see what he says today as he was going to do a bit of further investigation himself, but it looks like we either have to get a new machine or I might get a Beko engineer to come out by taking out a Care and Repair plan. If they can't fix it there's no charge.
I wish I knew more about these things myself - or indeed anything about them!
