BEKO WDIR7543101 Faulty buttons and random beeping, repeat issue now out of warranty
Hello,
I wonder if someone could please help with my issue
I have a BEKO WDIR7543101 integrated washer dryer purchased dec 2019 which seems to have a repeat issue which was fixed by an engineer under warranty about 6 months ago. I believe he claimed he changed a capacitor, but I cant be sure of that.
The problem is that the machine will start beeping on its own randomly. If you try and press any of the buttons, they sometimes work correctly and other times do not. i.e the start button turns the machine on and off. I have managed to run the test program by pressing and holding the spin and start buttons, I cycled through the tests and it seemed ok, but then the buttons were faulty again. We did manage to run a quick wash cycle, but I believe it didn't wash properly and it dried the clothes partially. If you leave the machine on, it beeps randomly sometimes cycling though drying settings.
It is now out of warranty so would like to fix this myself asap.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am hesitant to replace just the PCB as the engineer who came to fix it before only changed something small which he did not need to order beforehand. And I'm pretty sure this is the same issue.
Many thanks

Hello there. Do you know if he replaced a large capacitor, something cylindrical with several wires connected to it, or was it a very small capacitor on the PCB that he had to solder in?

Hello, many thanks for the reply.
It was worth a try seeking some independent opinions. I will have to wait for the engineer to take a look. Thanks again for your help.

Washing machine repairers don’t normally replace any capacitors in a PCB. They are never taught how to, and don’t have any information about them. It’s also not possible for them to get replacements as manufacturers don’t supply any individual components for printed circuit boards.
It’s always possible for an independent repairer to have previous technical knowledge and experience of working on PCBs but I would imagine that to be very rare indeed. Engineers normally only have the option to replace the complete board.
This is one of the bad practices that has to stopped if they are serious about reducing white goods wastage, but for now that’s how it is.
So if he replaced a capacitor, it would have to be a large capacitor, that may be involved with running the motor. So if your washing machine has such a capacitor, and it is faulty, I would expect everything to work ok except the motor.
The problem is that even if the symptoms are similar they can still have different causes.
Unfortunately, the symptoms you describe don’t point to any simple thing to fix.

Sorry, no I didn’t manage to see what he replaced. Currently it seems to start beeping during the drying cycle and clothes aren’t dried fully. Occasionally it malfunctions and the buttons dont work properly. Any suggestions? Thanks
