Hotpoint and paddles
I have a Hotpoint washing machine which had plastic paddles attached to the drum; theyt fell off after 4 yrs. I got a repair company to come out and install new ones. But the engineer just clipped the paddles on. I asked him if he needed to use screws as well because the paddles had screw holes. He said 'no need' and left. I suspect he took the shortcut and clipped them on. Screwing them would have meant opening up the washing machine and going through the back.
4 weeks on and one of the paddles has fallen off so I am calling the engineer out again under warranty. I would think the paddles need to be secured with locking crews or something.
IMO this is a terrible design by Hotpoint. Whether clipped on or screwed on the paddles cannot possibly sustain the huge centrifugal forces generated insided the drum.

Usually they clip in. Do you wash trainers at all?

We dont wash trainers or anything heavy.
The repairer came and fitted these paddles (snap-on). 2 of the paddles snapped off after 4 weeks. Repairer came and fitted a new one. Another one broke after 5 weeks. The repairer came out again and fitted a new one and left me 3 paddles. But they will not come out anymore.
Diabolical state of affairs. I do not believe these snap-on paddles are the solution and we have been rippped off. It must also be a design fault.
Good. A lot of people wash trainers. I don't think it's a good idea as I suspect they can damage the lifters.
I don't think there's a lot of force during spin as the laundry is press g on them and if anything holding them in place.
It's more likely forces duru g washing where the plastic lifters lift the laundry. They normally stay on OK but some just aren't well designed.
I've known some that were screwed in from underneath but that was a very long time ago. Most should be able to be removed and fitted from inside the drum.

How are these clips supposed to hold when the drum is spinning at 1000RPM?
