Hi I have just wasted 2 hours trying to get help for a hoover washing machine which seems to be called Clover as well. When you eventually find their technical contact phone number they answer after about 20 mins. The person who answers is not technical. I expected him to help me as a valued customer especially as I am an electrical engineet and in a position of recomending manufacturers all the time. I have an eror code E3 which means a blockage in the drainage system. I asked where this block might be and he said I am not an engineer. I asked for his manager at which point he started lying to me and eventually became the second employee in the technical elpline with no technicalknowledge who hung up on me today. I can on ly assume that thus is done to promote their call out service at very high prices.

Hi John. Aye the people who answer the phones are never, ever technical. They just offer basic advice read from a card or manual. To be fair, none of the manufacturers will ever tell customers how to repair their products. If E3 definitely means a blockage in the drainage system, then you should be able to confirm that the washing machine is not draining the water. Either at all, or only partially. If it is draining all the water (bear in mind that if it doesn't spin then any laundry will be sopping wet) then the error code is wrong.
Essentially, if there is a blockage in the drainage system it can't pump water out, can it. If water is not pumping out properly, my articles here cover all possibilities -

E3 on a modern Hoover does NOT automatically mean that it has something to do with no pump out = no spin! Very common that the heater goes to earth which does not take out the trip. If you have double checked the pump and hoses (which it can also be) for blockages / perhaps a duff pump it`ll be most likely the heater (as in the wash heater). The way to tell is as follows: get the machine to go wrong which is usually on the or before the 1st rinse. Turn the timer/programmer dial to cancel and the turn dial to pump out spin. If the machine then drains and then spins odds on it is your wash heater that has failed This is a very common fault on 2-9 year old Hoovers and Candys. Make sure you order your new heater by quoting the first 8 numbers of the long number that begins with 31 as read off the machine`s sticker often on the door / door hinge or on the front metal panel so you get the right one AND you might find the heater they send you might be shorter than the one you have if so do not worry.
