Washing Machine Tripping Electric, Now No Life At All?
Hi,
I don't know much about these things, but I've watched videos on YouTube over the last hour or so and they seem a lot more simple than I expected to fix them. My parents want to get a new one and I want to save the family money instead. Seems such a waste for what could be a simple fix.
Basically, the washing machine trips the house electric. There is no sign of life whatsoever, however, the drum seems to roll freely when I move it with my hand. From what they tell me, it just cut out during a cycle after about 20 mins, tripped the electric, then when switched back on again, showed no life at all and again, tripped the electric. The socket isn't faulty, and the fuse has been changed so I know these can't be at fault.
Any ideas?

P.S It is a Bosch Classixx 1000 (about 6 and a half years old)

Unfortunately, unless you can see an obvious cause such as a wire off and touching something, or the plastic insulation on a wire rubbed away and touching something metal you can't fault find a washing machine tripping the electrics without a special (and expensive) insulation test meter capable of putting 500 v dc through the machine.

I'm going to have a look inside to see if it is something obvious (though highly unlikely). There is still water in the machine (from when it cut out during a cycle). How would I empty this (without electric) and ensure it is safe to look inside? Does it need discharging like a PC?
