Washer Tripped The Main Circuit Breaker In The House
hi all,
just turned my washing machine on and it tripped the main circuit breaker in the house. fuse in the machine is fine but whenever it is turned on it does the same again....
any help greatly appreciated cos i haven't got a clue what it could be?

When fault finding you don't have to always do a resistance test, you can use the old fashioned fault finding method by taking components out of circuit.
On your machine, unplug it and remove the lid. Behind the front panel there will be a small round pressure switch with several wires attached and a plastic tube. Remove the purple wire with black stripes, tape up the end of it with insulating tape, try the machine.
If it works, it's your heater at fault. If it blows, unplug, remove the motor connector, switch on. If it doesn't blow it's the motor. It's as simple as this, just take things out of circuit until you stop blowing the circuit breaker and you can find the component at fault. The purple wire will likely fix it, Heaters in these normally short when they go.
