Morphy Richards blender won't turn on?
Hoping someone can help with my Morphy Richards blender (Total Control 403030) — the motor won't start even when it's all locked together properly. Would really appreciate any advice before I fork out for a callout.

If the blender appears assembled correctly but the motor is completely dead, the fault is usually either the power supply, the jug/lid safety interlock, or the main switch/control inside the base.
Before doing anything internal, unplug it from the mains. If checks involve mains electrics or internal testing, it’s best left to a qualified engineer.
1. Check the obvious first - Try a different socket. - Inspect the plug and flex for damage. - If it has a fitted UK plug, check the fuse in the plug (usually 3A or 13A depending on what’s fitted). A blown fuse can leave it totally lifeless.
2. Re-check the safety interlocks - Many blenders won’t run unless the jug is seated exactly right, and sometimes the lid also has to be correctly fitted. - Remove and refit everything carefully. - Look for broken plastic tabs, worn lugs, or anything that no longer presses the safety switch properly.
3. Check for signs of overheating - If it stopped after heavy use, the motor thermal cut-out may have tripped. - Leave it unplugged for 30–60 minutes, then try again.
4. Look underneath the jug/base coupling - If the drive coupling is jammed by food debris or seized, the motor may not start. - With it unplugged, check that the blade assembly turns as it should and nothing is obstructing it.
5. If still completely dead - The likely faults are the internal interlock switch, on/off control, thermal fuse, or motor itself. These need proper electrical testing.
If you’re not finding a simple external cause, a repair may only be worthwhile if the appliance is otherwise in very good condition. For internal electrical faults, use a qualified engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
