Zanussi Fls1383W Will Not Spin

I have read many posts that sound like my problem but none seem to quite fit with my situation.
If put on to wash, machine will fill and then make 2 slow rotations. It will then just sit like this, no heating or washing.
Put to spin, it will pump out ok, drum will make 2 rotations then sit like this forever with drain pump running
If i move the drum slightly, it will make 2 slow rotations and then just sit. Each time I move the drum slightly I produce these couple of slow rotations. A multimeter on the motor brush contacts shows 24 volts when 2 rotations are made but no other current to them unless I move the drum and get repeat of 24volts & 2 rotations.
Machine has 2 pressure switches, 1 single switch and 1 triple switch. I have blown gently in to both switches & they sound OK.
I have blown down both of the tubes attached to the switches.
I tried running the machine on spin cycle & while it was sat with drain pump running removed the sensing tubes from the switches.
Both brushes appear to be in good order and with plenty left on them.

It sounds like you've done a lot of work on it Dave, but you've checked all the stuff you can. As I was reading it I was thinking worn carbon brushes because often the motor might manage a couple of turns especially when the drum has been turned but with it making exactly 2 revolutions and stopping each time and not producing an error code I would suspect the main PCB. I would advise against trying to fit one because it may not be that and they are expensive. If you don't want to call in an engineer and are very reluctant to give up on it you could send the main PCB over to QER repairs as they test and recondition them but if you need the machine sorting quickly get in an engineer.

Hi Andy,
I was fortunate with mine, one of the pins from a relay had a blown connection on the board. Could only spot it with a magnifying glass. I have a mate who does electronics repairs so he repaired this for me (2 pints of cider) and now all up & running again.
Thanks very much for your advice and for bolstering my confidence. When I pulled all the connectors off the board I should have taken a photo or marked them, I did make marks on the final 3 but they all looked so obvious that I thought this was not really necessary. I was very glad that I had these as a starting point, lots of counting pins to replace the other ones.

Most faults on a PCB show no signs at all Dave, which is why its so hard to diagnose them. QER can test it if you are determined and have the time to send it off.

Thanks very much for the advice. I will have a closer look at the PCB tomorrow with my best glasses on & see if I can see any obvious damage that I failed to notice. I think that if I can see damage I will probably go the QER route as the machine is in pretty good order so worth spending £30. If no obvious damage maybe not. Thing that baffles me a bit is why moving the drum provokes the PCB to energise the motor again.I will let you know how it goes.
