Hoover New Wave E1 Error

Hi,

I've an old Hoover Newwave 1200 washer dryer that's started displaying the error code E1 with flashing LEDs. Washer does fill, heat up, empty and spin, I've not watched it closely enough to see what it was doing when E1 pops up and sometimes it complets the cycle. As mentioned on other posts here, this should just be something taking too long, so I've had various bits out and tested them:

The pump (rotating cylindrical magnet type) was clean and working but I opened and cleaned it, plus the outlet hose.

Sump & eco ball now clean as new.

Soap tray, its housing, hoses from valves, valve filters all clean.

Valves all ~ 3.5K resistance and seem to work.

I've had the pressure switch out, it shows contact activity on each pressure click though I don't know the correct contact sequence so one or more may be duff.

Pressure switch "bottle" and tubes all clean & clear.

So now I'm stuck, what could it be that's taking too long or could E1 be something else?

Circuit diagrams aren't available unless by any chance someone somewhere has illegally put one up. I just remembered there's another possible fault which can cause E1 on Hoover washing machines which is a blocked pressure system preventing the empty signal reaching the controller so it thinks it's not draining. Hi Andy,

Yes I did thanks, and one dated 2006 I think, good article, they were enough to set me off having a go (I design electronics for a living and re-build cars for fun so it's not too daunting).

I expected a gummed-up pump as we wash at 40 (I know), part clogged sump or waste pipe slowing the drain, a bunged-up valve filter or sticky valve slowing the fill but they seem fine.

I thought the pressure switch would be OK as it seems to fill to a sensible level.

.

It has E1'd after dumping warm water so the heater's working, perhaps the thermocouple / thermistor(?) is reading low or the heater is intermittant, I'll pop a thermometer in the next load and turn the water off once it's filled.

I've had quite a few failed wires at the top, all look to have been clean-cut though no one else has been in there in recent years, I think they were just a little to mean with their wire lengths

Are circuit diag's available for washing machines online?
