Washed New Bed Set Now Fabric Everywhere
Hi
I live in a small rented flat and the washing machine is very old, I've even been told if the washing machine breaks they can't repair it as its that old they don't make parts for it anymore.
Anyway my problem is this I bought a new bed set and sheet put it in for wash and there is pulls all over the fabric everywhere very large around at least 5 different pulls and the fabric stuck together.
Is this the washing machine causing this? Or is it the fabric? I'm worried to put anything else in there.
Thanks
I tried uploading a photo but it said its too big :/

Does the bed set have wash labels and did you put it on the recommended program and spin setting? If it's an old machine it may have a relatively small drum, was it overloaded? There may obstructions in the tub (trapped underneath the revolving drum) which can snag cotton items when they get forced through the holes in the drum on spin. Bra underwires are renowned for that.

If you followed the wash instructions it shouldn't be anything to do with the fabric. You can't rule out underwire from a bra if other people have used the washer in the past, things can be inside for years and suddenly move. Also I used to get many women saying they didn't use underwired bras when I pulled one out. I think some may have them but not be mentioned and they may not be only inside puh-up bras for example - but I know very little about bras
Basically your problem is covered at length in my article and very common - Holes in laundry after washing
You need to read this carefully to get a better idea, it's possible the drum bearings are worn allowing a lot of movement on the drum shaft which could be causing the drum to catch on or pass too close to the heater bracket or the main outer tub. There are many causes as outlined in the article including many non-washing machine causes but that's more related to clothes being subject to various friction whilst being worn.

Hi Andy
Thank you for getting back to me.
I washed it how exactly how the requirements on the label said, also it didn't just do it to the bed sheet it has ruined my other clothes too. It can't be an underwire from bras as I wear sports bras which don't have any wires and so I am really not sure what this could be? I have felt for any sharp bits but cannot find anything. Also it was not overloaded.
I'm really stuck as to what it could be, not only that my landlord is telling me he is under no obligation to replace the washing machine and so I am now worried that I will be told I have to buy a new one which I cannot afford.
Thanks
