3 year old machine stopped at spin, three spin lights flashing, I believe this is error sign for faulty contact board. I have already had the contact board replaced before Has anyone else met this problem or rectified it. Going to cost £200 to replace .thanks

On Bosch Classixx/Clasixx 6 machines, flashing spin LEDs can point to a control or connection fault, but it does not always prove the main PCB (“contact board”) has failed. If it has already had one board in only 3 years, I’d want a few basics checked before spending another £200.

1. Check the exact light pattern Note exactly which spin lights are flashing and whether any wash/rinse LEDs are lit too. On Bosch machines the pattern matters, and different faults can look similar.

2. Rule out a drainage problem If it stopped at spin, a partial drain blockage is very common. Check: - pump filter for coins, pins, lint - drain hose for kinks/blockage - pump impeller turns freely If water is not fully pumped out, many machines will refuse to spin.

3. Check the motor side Worn motor brushes are common on some Bosch washers and can cause stopping before or during spin. If fitted with a brushed motor, the carbon brushes should be inspected for wear.

4. Inspect wiring and connections With the appliance isolated from the mains, check plugs/connectors between motor, pump, pressure system and control board. A loose or burnt connector can mimic a failed board.

5. Consider pressure switch / pressure chamber issues If the machine “thinks” there is still water inside, it may not spin. A blocked pressure chamber or faulty pressure switch can cause that.

6. About the PCB PCBs do fail, but they should not be condemned without checks first. Also ask whether the replacement board would be guaranteed, and whether the original fault diagnosis was confirmed.

If you’re inspecting internal parts, isolate from the mains first. For live electrical testing, or if you’re unsure, it’s best to use a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
