Washing Machine Not Spinning As Fast As It Used To
Hi
I have a Diplomat Washing Machine which is no longer spinning as fast as it used to ??
The machine washes, drum rotates, etc, and it spins - but clothes come out wetter than they used to ??
I checked the filter - cleaned out the debris - made no difference. The machine seems to have no problems draining.
I understand that the model I have has an induction motor - so no carbon brushes.
I was told that the electronic module might be defective.
I purchased a refurbished electronic module which I switched for the existing module.
With the refurbished module installed the machine would not even start ??? I switched back to the existing module and the same problem returned.
I have read through the FAQs on this site.
Is there any help that you can offer ?

The problem described by edd would account for it not actually kicking into a spin, just doing the slow distribution while it drains water and not going into a proper spin, but not if it is spinning, but just not at full speed. I fit is kicking into an actual spin, but just not reaching full top speeds that's totally different. Unbalanced loads will often stop the full spin though that shouldn't be happening every time.

I would look at the pressure switch first. When you remove the top of the machine, you should see a rubber hose going up to a pressure sensor with wires attached (Obviously unplug appliance first). Check the wire condition. Sometimes it has been known for the drum to rub against those wires and damage them, in particular the red one. If the wires look ok, remove the rubber hose and make sure it's out of the way of the drum. I would then switch the machine on and only select a spin cycle, you don't want water coming in. See if it now spins faster. If it does, then you need to switch off at the mains, and blow as hard as you can down that rubber tube to try and clear it.
In most cases, the pressure switch is the culprit of a loose drive belt. If you remove the rear panel you can check that the drive belt is nice and tight (not slipping).
