Hi everyone,

Please can anyone offer some advice on a problem we have with a Beko WM74145W.

Whenever we press the start button to begin the cycle it just pauses for a second then goes straight to 'end'. This happened 10+ times then all of a sudden it worked as normal.

Lately though any wash above the 14 minute quick wash will not work at all and goes straight to 'end'.

Does anyone have any experience as to what could be causing this to happen?

Thanks.

Hi,

If a Beko starts a programme then immediately jumps to “End”, it usually means the control isn’t seeing one of the conditions needed to begin the wash. Because the 14-minute quick wash sometimes works, the fault may be intermittent rather than a fully failed part.

Try these checks:

1. Check the door lock Make sure the door is closing firmly and the catch isn’t loose or damaged. If the machine doesn’t reliably detect a locked door, it can abort the programme straight away. Listen for a definite click when Start is pressed.

2. Reset the machine Turn it off, unplug it from the mains for 10–15 minutes, then try again. Also try a different programme with no laundry in it.

3. Check the water supply Make sure the tap is fully on and the inlet hose isn’t kinked. Clean the little filter in the hose connection if accessible. Some machines will cancel very quickly if they cannot begin filling properly.

4. See if it will spin or drain Try a drain or spin-only programme. If those work but full washes do not, that points more towards a fill/heating/programme sensing issue than a motor fault.

5. Consider the most likely faults On this sort of symptom, common suspects are the door interlock, pressure system (level sensing), or the main control board. The fact short wash sometimes works could suggest the board or a sensing fault rather than a simple blockage.

Safety reminder: isolate the appliance from the mains before removing any panels or inspecting internal parts. If checks don’t narrow it down, I’d recommend a qualified appliance engineer, especially for live electrical testing.

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
