Solution Summary

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Indesit WIB111 will not drain despite pump replacement and hose/filter checks

The problem
Indesit WIB111 would not drain. The pump had been changed, the sump hose cleaned, foreign objects removed from the filter, and the kitchen drain checked. The user also reported red and green lights flashing. Other programmes reportedly worked when selected separately, but the machine still would not drain and would not go into fast spin with water present.
Likely cause
A remaining drainage fault was suspected, but the exact cause was not identified in the discussion. The accepted reply noted that the drum motor and drain pump are independent, and that the machine would not enter fast spin until the water had drained.
What fixed it
No confirmed repair was given. As the pump had already been replaced and obvious blockages reportedly checked, the accepted advice was that further diagnosis was needed and an engineer might be required.
Checks to try
  • Drain pump replaced
  • Sump hose cleaned
  • Filter cleared of foreign objects
  • Kitchen drain checked
  • Flashing red and green lights reported
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Drain pump

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello Allan. When you say you tried turning the motor while in a spin I'm not sure what you meant. I presume you meant not "in a spin" but on a spin cycle? I'm also confused as to why you would try turning the motor if the fault is related to not pumping out water. The pump and motor run independently, so if the pump isn't pumping out water the motor should still work. However the motor wouldn't kick into a fast spin if the water hasn't drained out.

I have a very comprehensive help article on how to troubleshoot washing machine not draining water out which covers everything from the most common causes to more obscure ones but if you've already fitted a new pump and checked for blockages you may need an engineer. There are links at the end of the article you should also check out including Can’t Find a Blockage But Washing Machine Still Not Draining
