Continuous relay clicking on an older Bosch usually means the control is trying to start a function but is not getting the feedback it expects. The relay itself is not always the real fault.
Before checking anything internal, isolate the washing machine from the mains.
1. Identify when it clicks Does it click as soon as you switch it on, only when you press start, or when it should begin filling/spinning? That helps narrow down whether it is linked to door locking, motor drive, heating or drain/fill functions.
2. Check the door interlock A faulty door lock can cause repeated clicking if the board is trying to energise it but not seeing it lock properly. Make sure the door closes firmly and the lock engages. On these Bosch machines, door lock faults are quite common.
3. Recheck the motor and carbon brushes New brushes must be the correct type and length, fitted properly, and free to slide in the holders. Also inspect the commutator on the motor armature. If badly worn or burnt, new brushes alone will not cure it.
4. Inspect wiring and connectors Look closely at the wiring loom between the motor, door lock, pump and control board. Check for loose plugs, overheated terminals or broken wires, especially around the motor and module.
5. Check for obvious board damage The clicking relay may simply be on the main control board, but without a circuit diagram it is difficult to say exactly what load it controls. Look for burnt tracks, cracked solder joints, or damaged components around the relay.
6. Consider supply issues A weak or failing power supply section on the PCB can make a relay chatter continuously. If the machine powers up poorly or lights flicker, the control board itself becomes more likely.
If you can say exactly at what point the clicking starts, that would help narrow it down further. For mains testing or control board repair, it is best to use a qualified appliance engineer.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
