Fitting new Miele base drain pump?
I've got a drain pump for my Miele W827 washing machine (non original part). It's generally very easy to fit, except the plug socket connection isn't 'keyed' like the original part. So now in theory the power plug, which goes into the socket, could go in either way. I am concerned I will get it wrong, and blow the thing up!
The best I can think of doing is making sure the orientation is as per the original.
Does it matter anyway?
I hope that makes sense. Any advice much appreciated

Miele W827 replacement drain pump plug not keyed
- The problem
- A non-original drain pump was being fitted to a Miele W827 washing machine. The replacement pump connector was not keyed like the original, so the plug could be inserted either way round and the concern was whether this would cause damage.
- Likely cause
- The issue was due to the replacement drain pump having a non-keyed electrical connection rather than the original keyed arrangement. The accepted reply indicated that, if the connection is simply live and neutral on AC supply, the orientation should not matter.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was that if the pump connection is only live and neutral, it does not matter which way round the plug is fitted. The original poster accepted this advice. No further repair steps were documented.
- Checks to try
- Compared the replacement pump connector with the original keyed connector
- Considered matching the plug orientation to the original part
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Non-original drain pump

If it’s just a live and a neutral it shouldn’t matter which way round with AC current.
