Miele spin/drain during wash

Hello.

I've recently bought a miele wsf363wcs 8 kg washing machine and it was installed and tested by a technician so no fail in installation.

But from the very first wash it started doing this: When I choose a program WITHOUT prewash, it spins and drains all water and detergent after few minutes and starts adding water so it washes without detergent and again. And again. At least 3 times. I've to add detergent couple of times! Then after 8-10 minutes after starting the machine, it starts washing.

Why does it drain water several times during ready washing even though I do not choose prewash?

Has anyone experienced the same? Or should i call a technician?

I have never experienced similar before with old washing machines...

Hi. Are you putting the detergent in the right place? One side is for prewash which will get taken straight away and other side is for main wash.

I can't rule out a fault, but this does sound a bit like it's doing a pre wash. Are you sure there isn't a pre wash option activated, or that the wash cycle doesn't have a pre wash at the start?

Also make sure the detergent is being put in the right compartment. There's usually a compartment for pre wash detergent and a compartment for main wash.

Hello. I was interested to read this as I have the same problem with my Miele W1 Powewash 2.0 model that takes an 8kg load.

On most programs, the machine fills with water, whilst emptying the main wash detergent compartment of powder. After ten mins or so, it pumps this water and detergent out and refills, flushing the already empty main wash detergent compartment again. The result is not only a waste of water but detergent too. I also need to be around the machine to add extra detergent after the ten minute phase.

The only times this doesn’t happen is when the machine is absolutely full of bedding and towels on a cotton cycle. Any smaller amounts of laundry trigger this premature pumping out. The other exception is when using a 49 min 1kg cycle, no premature pumping out here. So the detergent you put in gets utilised fully in the wash.

I contacted Miele who were suitably vague and said it’s to do with the machine assessing the load.

My previous AEG logically took some water in and then kept adding more until a sufficient level was reached for the size of load. This was 20 years ago, have advances in technology gone into reverse? Miele also claim that if an engineer is called out and they decide there isn’t a fault I’ll be charged. So a no win situation.

Check this article where the heading is siphoning to see if that could be the problem Water draining away

It flushes all the detergent from the main wash into the drum and starts washing for like 2 minutes, then it starts spinning for 5-10 secs and then i hear the water is siphoning out, but I don't hear it's going through the drain hose, but all water is gone. Then again flush the detergent from the main wash, wash for a couple of minutes, spin, drain and all over again. I don't experience it when i choose a 15/30 minutes program

Hi. Before starting the cycle washing machines usually take in a little bit of cold water first to fill the sump hose. They flush this water (about half a pint or so) into the opposite side to where you put the detergent, so if detergent is in the wrong side it would get mostly flushed into the drum straight away.

When you say it drains the water several time is it actually pumping out the water or is the water siphoning out? If the drain hose is incorrectly installed it can cause water to siphon out. Otherwise it has to be a fault but it’s very rare for one to be faulty.

Yes I'm putting it in the main wash detergent drawer. Even if i put it in the wrong place, it shouldn't drain when I have not chosen prewash, right??
