The belt of my old Indesit W93 UK keeps slipping off. I presume it doesn’t sound very healthy if you spin the drum by hand? And if it’s been a bit noisy recently the chances are the front drum bearing has collapsed. If it has it’s pretty serious and expensive.

The drum turns ok from the inside but squeaks a little. The drum pulley doesn't turn easily and I have now found on turning it that there is a loose bit of metal protruding from the centre of the pulley but is attached to something as I can't pull it out. What is it? The last few times the machine worked it was very noisy on spinning. Anyway, going by your last reply I guess it's not worth getting repaired?
Sorry I missed replying to this. Yes it looks as if the drum bearing the front has partially collapsed causing the drum to drop. This in turn would bring the drum pulley at the back closer to the outer drum. It has obviously got so bad it is cut into the outer drum. It is likely to be quite expensive and involved to fix.
