Help - Ecovacs robot vacuum main brush keeps stopping
Hoping someone can help with my Ecovacs robot vacuum (Deebot T10) — the brush bar stops and it reports a brush error. It's showing Error 2. Really hoping it's a cheap fix.

A brush error on a robot vacuum is often something simple such as hair, stiff bearings, or a worn brush/motor drive, but with “Error 2” I wouldn’t want to guess beyond that without checking the basics first.
Before inspecting anything, switch it off and isolate it from the mains/charger.
1. Remove the main brush completely Take out the brush roller and end caps/bearings. Hair and thread often wind in behind the ends where you can’t easily see it, and that can make the brush stop under load.
2. Check the brush turns freely by hand With the brush out, spin both ends and make sure nothing is seized or rough. If the end bearing/cap is tight, clogged or damaged, the machine will detect excessive load and report a brush fault.
3. Inspect the brush housing Look into the brush chamber for string, carpet fibres, or debris around the drive coupling. Also check the little square/hex drive socket on the brush and the mating drive on the machine for wear or slipping.
4. Try a test with a cleaned or replacement brush If the brush bristles are badly distorted or the roller is swollen/damaged, it can jam. If you have a spare brush, try that.
5. Check the brush motor area If the brush spins freely by hand but still stops immediately, the fault may be the brush motor, gearbox, or a sensor detecting overload. That’s a more involved repair.
6. Reset and update If available in the app, check for firmware updates and reboot the robot after cleaning.
If the brush and housing are clear and it still shows the same fault, it’s likely a motor/drive issue rather than a cheap consumable. For internal electrical checks, use a qualified repairer. WhitegoodsHelp AI
Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
