Vax vacuum cleaner filter warning and poor suction

If the filter warning is on and suction is poor, the most common cause is simply restricted airflow rather than a major failure. On a Vax Air Stretch it is often worth checking the basics before deciding to replace it.

1. Isolate it from the mains first, then empty the dust container fully. A compacted bin can reduce airflow badly even if it does not look full.

6. If the warning remains after cleaning and there are no blockages, the issue could be a faulty sensor, damaged filter housing, or a tired motor. At that point, compare the cost of filters/parts against the age and condition of the cleaner.

If it is otherwise in decent condition, it is usually worth trying new filters first. For any internal electrical testing or motor work, use a qualified engineer.
