AEG cooker hood light not working
I've got a AEG cooker hood that's 2 years old and the light under the hood has stopped working. Grateful for any pointers, thanks.

If the fan still works and it’s only the light that has failed, the most likely causes are the lamp/module itself, a poor connection, or the light switch/control on the hood.
1. Isolate the hood from the mains first Turn it off at the fused spur or consumer unit before removing any covers or touching internal parts.
2. Check what type of light it uses On many AEG hoods this will be an LED module rather than an old-style replaceable bulb. If it is a removable bulb, take it out and inspect it for blackening or a broken filament, then replace with the exact correct type and rating.
3. Check the lamp holder or connector If accessible, look for a loose plug, heat damage, corrosion, or signs of burning around the light fitting. A failed connection can stop the light even if the motor still runs normally.
4. Test the light switch/function If the light button feels odd, intermittent, or the light has been flickering before failing, the switch or electronic control may be at fault rather than the lamp itself.
5. If it has an LED module These can fail as a complete unit and usually need the correct AEG replacement part. The model number should help identify the right lamp assembly.
If a new lamp/module doesn’t cure it, the fault is likely in the wiring, switch, or control board. Any live electrical testing should be left to a qualified engineer. If you post the lamp type or a photo of the fitting, that would help narrow it down.

Safety first — read before actioning advice
Never work on a live appliance
Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.
Never attempt gas work
By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.
Watch for sharp edges
Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.
Water appliances can leak
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.
Know your limits
If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
