Spoon Caught In Drum Of My Indesit Wie137S

Hi all,

My 2.5 year old daughter shoved a small plastic spoon into the hole in the drawer where detergent flows down. It worked its way down the rubber pipe and is now rattling around in the drum. The machine seems to work OK but makes a heck of a noise on spin. I've checked some vids about how to get into the drum but clearly its a job for a pro. Is there anything I could do to get this object out easily without having to call an engineer? If not, is this relatively safe if I have to live with it?

Many thanks for any help given,

Marc

I would't expect a plastic spoon to do much damage, I'd expect it to get chomped to pieces after a few washes. It could still do some damage but not as serious as if it was metal. I have an article giving general advice on removing an obstruction from the drum, which if it doesn't help means I'd recommend getting an engineer in.

I doubt a plastic spoon would be strong enough to hold back the motor, if it was mine I would wait until it falls into the sump, either complete or in pieces.

OK, that will be what I attempt next, thanks again!

Could you manoeuvre the spoon using the holes in the paddles so that it drops into the sump hose in the bottom centre of the drum, where it can easily be retrieved?

Thanks Andy, that's a helpful article. I managed to get the paddles off but alas, the holes in the drum are not big enough for me to get the spoon through. The noise at times sounds like the drum will get stuck when spinning and causes some worry. Is it a dumb suggestion to make the holes bigger myself?
