Daewoo Washer Dryer Dwc-Ld1421 Fault E6
I've got a Daewoo washer drier trips out on fault E6 on every program. The service manual gives "In case motor detected with EMG port is of 20A or higher". It says clear the fault and reset by turning off the power.
The problem has not gone away. Chatting the the Daewoo guys they are not familiar with this, suggest fishing around the repair community, or change the motor and/or PCB!
Has anyone any experience of this?...an overload on the direct drive motor can only be in the drum itself, a bearing of something jammed, so even changing motor & PCB would not cure this. The drum turns freely with no noise or scraping, the motor windings look OK no sign of water or burning.

Daewoo are one of the brands with very little technical information available. The "In case motor detected with EMG port is of 20A or higher" explanation looks like a poor translation. If it is caused by the motor being jammed and taking more power to try and run then if you can see this is not the case it's not a reliable explanation of the fault. An obstruction inside the outer drum could intermittently jam the drum, but if this error is displaying when the drum is clearly being turned ok and not jamming up it sounds like an erroneous explanation.
On the other hand if you observe it running and all of a sudden something seems to jam and produces this error then maybe something is physically causing the error.
The fact that even the Daewoo guys don't know, and can only guess or try fitting expensive parts in the hope it will fix it means you would have to accept there's nothing you can do unless you can find anyone who has had the same fault (which I appreciate is part of why you came here).

Looking at the PCB and circuit I see a motor with a three phase rotor/stator and then a four wire rotor/stator/armature connection. Looks like they set up a rotating field as a normal squirrel cage motor and then there must be brushes to make a synchronous motor action. I might unplug it and megger the windings and have another look for brushes which I didn't see last time I had the back off.
Nothing jammed, drum spins OK, no noise and it's hard to see how anything substantial could get inside the outer drum.. there is a test procedure in the service manual but it appears to be for a different model.
There seems little point in paying out a couple of hundred for motor and/or PCB when the thing only cost £400. Sad really as it seems so well made, and with the dryer as well it is a bargain.
For the others on this site I should add that I favoured LG s our earlier one lasted 10 years without a hitch, it went when they could not supply a new boot, again seems sad to throw a working washer away because of the boot.
Still trying to fix this E6 overload fault ,it can go well for a few weeks then it's every wash....right now it's every wash and I'm thinking of scrapping it...and no more Daewoo....the support and service is non-existent, they'll sell you spare parts but can't help with diagnostics.
I can see why it was cheap, washer dryer for £400. Inside it is quite well built , a direct drive motor seems like a good idea, so it's quite frustrating not to be able to fix it. I might put it in my workshop for a while and have another look later.
It seems that all of the Asian based and brown goods manufacturers have very poor technical support in the UK and I would avoid them all on that basis alone. AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi (all owned by the same group) have a very good reputation for good spares and technical support in the UK.

I think you are right admin, we had the LG for over 10 years but spares were always a problem, I finally bypassed the door lock, snipped the tatty parts of the drive belt and got another two years out of what was a well constructed machine. Finally the boot went and they are not available anywhere.......actually I have now found a product called "stormsure", amazing stuff fixed my leaking wellies some 12 months ago so next time I'll be mending the boot.
The Daewoo DWC-LD1421 is running again at the moment, the tub turns freely, no noise, so we'll wait for the next time the E6 overload shows up I'm actually retired after 50 years as an electrical engineer so the design is quite interesting...the direct drive is a good idea and the brushless DC motor circuit can't be too difficult so I might have a go at the main PCB level and get back to this website.
I've got the service manual but it is mainly a list of spare parts and the translation is pretty poor.
